The Electric Barge is a unique floating events venue based on the Grand Union Canal in Paddington. We operate catered canal cruises along the Regent’s Canal between Paddington and Kings Cross. Events Crew (Freelance)

Role: Casual Events Crew
Salary: £14.20 per hour
Contract: Freelance

We’re looking for upbeat freelance Events Crew to join the team on board the Electric Barge.

Join our freelance events crew on board the Electric Barge! We offer the flexibility to choose your shifts and competitive rates of pay. Mostly evening and weekend work with a few daytime shifts on occasion. The average shift is approximately 6 hours long.

Full training is provided and successful candidates will display a strong work ethic and the desire to get stuck in wherever needed. We offer the flexibility to choose your shifts and competitive rates of pay. Mostly evening and weekend work although more mid-week work will be available throughout our peak summer season from July to September.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • An upbeat and can-do attitude.

  • Sound judgement and a proactive mindset.

  • The ability to engage positively with others with a friendly & welcoming approach.

  • A good command of spoken English.

  • The right to work in the UK (you will be asked to provide proof at the interview stage).

  • Experience in the hospitality industry in a customer facing role would be advantageous.

Events Supervisor (Freelance)

Role: freelance events Lead Crew/ Supervisor
Salary: £16.80 per hour
Contract: Freelance

We are looking for skilled hospitality workers who have experience supervising or managing teams, venues or events. 

Successful candidates should have the ability to motivate and lead a team and work independently with minimal supervision. We offer the flexibility to choose your shifts and competitive rates of pay. Mostly evening and weekend work although more mid-week work will be available throughout our peak summer season from July to September.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Assert yourself as the point of contact for the client on the day of the event.

  • Coordinate pre-event set up of furniture, bar, catering and other equipment as required.

  • Delegate roles to Crew members and ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard.

  • Conduct pre-event briefing with Crew and Skipper before the event starts.

  • Show awareness of event schedule and key timings, e.g. caterer arrival, food service, last orders, etc.

  • Act as the go-to person for the organiser throughout the event and ensure attentive and friendly service is provided.

  • Assist with bar service, food service and glass collection/ replenishment during the event and ensure venue is presentable for the duration.

  • Ensure that the end of the hire runs smoothly, guests disembark the barge promptly and safely and that all their belongings have been removed from the venue.

  • Work with the Skipper to promote a safe and secure environment for guests and Crew.

  • Conflict resolution with customers where required & report any issues to the Duty Manager/ Events Manager.

  • Manage post-event clearing, cleaning and restocking. Ensure all post-event instructions given by the Events Manager are followed.
